Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is a Color Consultant and What do They do?
Have you stood at the local paint store’s wall of color chips and felt overwhelmed by all its choices? Have you taken home some two-inch color chips, expecting to find that perfect paint color for the walls and suddenly realized you can’t tell anything at the two-inch scale? If this is you, you may be relieved to know a color consultant is ready to help you.

A color consultant is a color expert trained in the science and art of color. Some color consultants are also certified interior decorators and designers. Color consultants work with clients by not only evaluating the overall goal of the project but by evaluating a space's lighting, size, features, and more. They consider the room's focal point, unifying and beautifying the room.

Additionally, beyond offering paint recommendations, color consultants can also suggest better furniture arrangements, ensuring an optimized traffic flow in the room. On a broader scale, color consultants help inventory current furniture or recommend new purchases, as well as fabrics, accessories, lighting, and smaller details to help a space realize its full potential.
2. Why can't I rely on my painter's advice?
Painters, regardless of their skill level, are not trained to understand the nuances of color, how color affects our moods, or even how color is impacted by light. Professional painters are technicians in applying paint. This is why speaking with a color consultant is a necessary step when you want to truly beautify a space and ensure that it looks good from every angle and throughout every hour of the day.
3. What happens during a color consultation?
Color consultation begins with the color consultant listening to what you would like to achieve with the space. For example, do you need advice on what color to paint the walls? Do you need assistance with selecting furnishings that compliment the wall color? During your meeting with the color consultant, you will be asked about your favorite colors, style preferences, current likes and dislikes within the space, and how the room can better meet your needs.

Once the scope of the project has been identified, the color consultant will develop color recommendations to test within the room, and they will help you decide on the ideal color scheme, if desired.
